| Tourism and
the Internet:
An Investigation of the Co-Incident Role of the Internet in Tourism Promotion. The aim of this research is to
investigate the role that the Internet plays in the devision making
of potential tourists. It will do this by examining the extent to which
Australian domestic tourists use the Internet, specifically the Web
Sites of the state based tourist authorities, in planning and designing
a holiday. Despite the fact that providers
of tourist services and products have made extensive use of the Internet
in recent years, there is still an alarming lack of any detailed knowledge
about the extent to which tourists are prepared to use the capacity
of on-line services in planning or purchasing. This research project is designed to overcome some of these problems.
2. To give domestic destination organisations a chance to reconsider the role and effectiveness of Internet advertising and to develop the use of Internet advertising. 3. To recommend to domestic destination organisations how they can effectively and efficiently develop their web pages
2. To explore
the extent to which potential tourists utilise the web to purchase tourist
related products such as travel, accomodation and leisure activities.
They will then
be asked to answer a number of questions about the way in which they
utilised each site.
